In case we need a reason to celebrate this month, International Yoga Day and the Summer Solstice are right around the corner!
We gather together from the Studio with our Annual Rooftop Sunset Meditation and Yoga Event. This year is extra special becasue we have goodie bags from our sponsor Pukka Tea, and Spices By Rebekah is dishing up a seasonal tasting menu, specially suited to the season!
But what is the Summer Solstice and why do we celebrate it?
The word “solstice” derived from the Latin word sol, meaning “sun”, and sistere, meaning “stand still” or “come to a stop”. The Summer Solstice is a day the sun appears to stand still when the Sun reaches its zenith at the Tropic of Cancer in the Northern Hemisphere. We enjoy the longest hours of sunlight at this time. Even the Arctic Circle sees 24 hours of sun at Summer Solstice.
Energetically, Summer Solstice ushers in the season of manifestation and joy. We all feel it: a time to be out doing, connecting with friends and creating the experiences that make summer so memorable. Across the ages, ancient cultures celebrated the Solstice, or Midsummer, with fertility and harvest rituals.
We are celebrate with a rooftop event at sunset, enjoying the view, community, and yoga and meditation to harness the Sun’s good vibes to spark up joy, gratitude and nurture the feeling tht anything is possible.
This year’s Sunset on Solstice Rooftop Event is Thursday June 20 at 7pm. Get all the details HERE
